Park

Wallace Township has five active public parks:
1. Wagenseller
Park, located at 140 Park Lane, off of Creek Road
2. Burgess
Park , located at 1771 Creek Road
3. Margaret
Howson Memorial Park, located at 2161 Creek Road
4. Alice
Park (in honor of Supervisor Alice Halsema),
located at 1250 Creek Road
5. Indiantown
Field, located at 400 Fairview Road (owned by Downingtown
Area School Dst.)
The township maintains three baseball fields, one basketball court, two tennis
courts, and a playground. The pavilion at Wagenseller Park may be
reserved for family reunions and other group functions. Burgess Park and
the Margaret Howson Memorial Park preserve and protect their attractive natural
settings along the Brandywine Creek. In 1998, the Supervisors acquired
sixty acres of land for a new Wallace Community Park. The acquisition was
made possible by grant funding through the Chester County Heritage Park and
Open Space Program and the state Keystone Program. The property borders
the west bank of the Brandywine Creek and is close to the County's 300 acre
Springton Manor Farm and the 700 acre Marsh Creek State Park. The
Township is currently working on acquiring easements to establish a walking
trail and bridle path linking the three parks. The Township received a
second Keystone grant to prepare a Master Site Development Plan for the new
park. The Final Master Plan was completed and approved by the Board of
Supervisors on February 7, 2001, and additional grant funding is now being
sought to begin implementing the Plan.
Recreation programs offered by the Township include
a six-week Summer Recreation Program, Tennis Instruction, Easter Egg Hunt,
Halloween Party, Tree Lighting Ceremony, and various special events such as
Concerts In The Park and Community Day.
